While inPulse's policy enforcement is done through a Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) device, inPulse is DPI-neutral. This means that inPulse is designed and tested to work with multiple DPI concurrently and efficiently. InPulse has been integrated with major DPIs like Cisco and Ellacoya.

Core Modules
Service Management Module
A critical module for Service Providers to provide a realtime Service-on-Demand to its subscribers. Service Providers will be able to introduce its service offerings such as Video-on-Demand (VoD), file-backup service and Bandwidth-on-Demand (BoD), etc, with a shorter time-to-market.
Quota Management Module
Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is a policy favors by most Service Providers for ensuring each of its subscribers have equal access to its services. Example of such a policy would be that a subscriber is given a certain amount of bandwidth throughput (for example, 2 GB) once this amount is used up; the subscriber will be given a lower priority. The Quota Management Module can be employed by Service Provider in a flexible manner as followed. A) In a pre-paid environment, its subscribers can be prompt to top-up its quota once a threshold is reached. B) In a post-paid environment, only certain specified destination-based contents are placed under a quota.
Business Intelligence Module
A DSS (Decision Support System) that applies business intelligence to the raw traffic data collected from different DPI platforms (as long as it complies with inPulse data collection interface) to facilitate the marketing analysis of the customers' current usage pattern and future trend. It provides 3 types of analysis services.
A) Ad-hoc reporting (Depending on the available of the raw traffic data)
Example
- Network usage reports by applications - Example: Web traffic, P2P traffic, emails, streaming, etc.
- Network usage reports by location - Example: local traffic, International traffic such as USA, China, and Europe.
- Subscriber Volume usage report - Target customers' behavior for different usage level.
B) Intelligent Business Analyzer
Trend analysis reports breakdown by a combination of raw data dimensions like date, age, offering plan. Example: Network usage pattern under a specific age group for different plan offerings for the last 6 months.
This is to consolidate the most valuable analysis perspective and slice the data accordingly to enable web-based online interactive data analysis.
C)Data Mining for Knowledge Discovery
Reports specifically generated to find out the invisible, underlying knowledge out of the raw traffic data.
Example: Knowing the surfing behavior of subscribers and thus able to provide profiles for marketing of new services.
Supporting Modules
Customer Management
Ensuring customer satisfaction is an important aspect for Service Providers to retain its customers to continue using its services. Today consumers would expect assistance and information to be passed down in the shortest time frame. Customer Care and Self-Care are the key elements that Service Providers needed in providing excellent customer satisfaction.
The Customer Management can be customized to include services such as Self-Service Portal for information retrieval & self-service management, Helpdesk Portal for overview visibility to issues face by consumers. As an extension, notification mechanism such as SMS /Email /Captive Portal redirection /Desktop agent can be used to inform subscribers of Quota limit, new service activation, new product launching, etc.
Billing / Provisioning Integration
Service Providers need real-time provisioning and efficiency usage-records collection for efficient deployment of Convergent Billing and Service Enablement. Creating, verifying and deleting of subscribers' records can be performed in real time or in batch processing. Usage records can also be customized and delivered in the formats acceptable to the in-house billing system.
Platform Specification
inPulse can be deployed with a minimum specification of a Intel based / Sun Rack mountable server. Multiple deployment models are available to optimize the performance of the modular solution.
